Here at 3dcart, our employees are our backbone. We have a great crew of talented, interesting people behind the scenes, and we want you to get to know them! To that end, and to show our appreciation for the members of our Team, we're introducing our Employee Spotlight series. Every month, we'll interview one of our best and brightest, so stay tuned!

We're kicking off our Employee Spotlight series by interviewing Shavoy Jones, Developer Advocate and 3-year 3dcart veteran.

What are your duties at 3dcart?

Help resolve partner issues; handle the API queue; work on new partnerships and integrations; responsible for getting 3rd partner themes available to our customers.

How did you get into the field and arrive at your current position?

Love technology and decided to work at a tech related company. Then excelled through hard work, and now I am the developer advocate at the company.

What's your favorite thing about 3dcart?

Working with awesome people.

Who is/are your favorite 3dcart client(s)?,,

How do you personally apply 3dcart's Core Values (Results Oriented, Reliable, Customer Focused, and Responsive)?

Personally, I always believed if you are going to do something to do it as best as you possibly can. So in that regard, I am very results oriented. I understand the best way to keep a customer happy is to provide them with results and be very courteous and responsive whenever help is needed. I practice this approach with every client I deal with.

What piece of advice would you offer a brand new online store owner?

Make sure your store is set up and functioning correctly. Then, worry about the aesthetics of the site. Once both are complete, start getting your name out there and start selling!

What gets you through a rough day?

Music and Comedy.

Music not only changes your mood, but it also changes the way we think and our perception of the world. It helps provide an escape when your reality may be chaotic.

Comedy evokes hearty laughs that help you encounter situations with a positive frame of mind. It is proven to ease and soothe stress. It makes you feel light and joyful and you can be assured you'll get peaceful sleep when you lay in bed with a smile rather than a frown. As they say, "Laughter is the best medicine".

What are you most proud of, both in and outside of your career?

Inside of career: Trust and support of management. Ability to grow and advance in career.

Outside of career: How my parents raised me. How talented, genuine, and generous I am.

How do you unwind after work?

Mostly Netflix and chill… with the family. Lol.

How do you spend your off time? Hobbies and interests?

I love sports, especially Basketball. If I’m not playing sports, I’m spending time with my family. Some activities we like to do is water activities and jumping on the trampoline.

Where are you from?

Born and raised in the beautiful island of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. You should visit someday.

Do you have a personal philosophy, motto, or favorite quote?

"Be the change in the world you want to see." – This means don’t complain about the things you don’t like in this world. Do something about it to make it better. In the end, you will feel fulfilled for making the world a better place.

"Make Plays." – Simply means, get up and make it happen. Don’t wait for handouts. Go ahead and achieve whatever you want to accomplish. Like Marshawn Lynch says, “I’m all about that action boss.”

What is your dream vacation?

Anywhere where I could experience new cultures with my love ones. Perhaps Hawaii.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

I’m not very particular on this type of stuff but if I could live anywhere, the best place would be in a neighborhood where most of my lifelong friends stay. Also, would love to be able to travel between St. Croix and the states whenever I’m feeling homesick.

If you could have any super power, what would you choose?

Teleportation. Can go anywhere in the world at a snap of a finger. Not to mention save a ton load in traveling fees.

Is there anything you'd like to add?

Nope. It’s better to keep things short and sweet.
